Thursday Thoughts…food porn, workouts

Happy Thursday! I love Thursdays, there is only one more day in the week and most people treat Thursday like Friday anyways so there is usually fun things going on. This week has been pretty mellow, just work and working out and trying to kick whatever thing is going on with me. For the last week it seems that every day I feel good in the morning, then in the late afternoon sometime I start feeling like crap. I get a headache and almost get the chills, I feel congested and just really tired. I have tried sleeping extra and not working out but it seems no matter what I do this keeps continuing. Jason has been really sick for the past week so I am convinced that my body is fighting whatever is going on. Bottom line, right now sucks! It is almost Halloween and I feel like dirt. My BFF aka Man of Honor aka Drew has a tendency to get deathly ill for most of the major holidays so maybe he passed the torch to me, and now it is my turn to get sick for the holidays. Either way I want it to stop. I keep looking at food porn on How Sweet It Is and it is not helping. Let me just say I want to devour everything on this blog! Thanks Nicole for introducing me to my latest addiction 😉 If this doesn’t look like food porn I don’t know what does.

I digress.


Lets take a look at my workouts this week shall we?


Monday- rest from still feeling slightly sick…Gross.

Tuesday- Run that felt like death, I somehow managed to squeak out 4 miles in 50 minutes, how that happened I have no idea!

Then on wednesday I decided to try Bikram again. This time it was a much better success I actually went in there somewhat excited to give it another try and hope for the best.

And I left feeling good and revitalized. I swear I looked exactly the same after the class, you don’t need a post bikram picture 😉

Thursday- Well I woke up at 5:25 before my alarm! I decided to sieze the day and start getting dresses for my run this morning. Well as I was naked in the Kitchen trying to get dressed for running an earthquake hit. I quickly ran to the doorway and then realized if I had to bolt it naked It was meant to be. Thank fully I didn’t have to do that and I went ahead on my run. Besides it being cold and extremely dark I had a great 4.5 mile run! (I just purchased a headlamp to defeat one of those things)

Tonight is my WI and Weight Watchers! I am hoping for the best but I swear I never know what tales from the scale I will learn come WI. Have an awesome day and lets hope I shake this disease Jason gave me.

Weekly Check-in (Friday Thoughts)

This week has honestly been really good. Aside from being extremely emotional from various things going on it was a lot of fun and super productive. There was lots of exercise, and healthy food and some good times with friends.

One highlight that I want to touch on is the Full Moon Run at Inspiration Point in the Berkeley Hills. I think technically it is Orinda but I will always associate it with Berkeley.

First we started the night off with a few photo’s courtesy of my wonderful friend Emily(these photos are at the top), check out her blog. She is going to start training for another Ironman soon so she will be updating soon, but she has some great posts on her last Iron(WO)man that she did in August.

It was a fun night except when we had to turn back because there was a mountain lion on the road! Ahh! We were  a little scared but since I don’t run that fast I didn’t actually see the mountain lion (thank god!)

October Goals Weekly Check in!

I swear, making things pink just makes them better, am I right or am I right? (Don’t answer that 😉 )

Here are what my goals are for October

October Goals!

  • lose 3-4 pounds– Well this week I have a pretty big drop, 4.2 to be exact. So I am going to try to set the goal of losing 2 more pounds by November 3rd. (I am secretly hoping for more)
  • strength train 2 days a week with my running training– So far so good, I have been strength training at least 2 days a week the past 2 weeks, I was thinking of kicking it up a notch to 3 times a week but we will see if I can fit that in.
  • relax and enjoy life even if it means not losing weight that week– This is always a tough one, I have picked up knitting again and reading more so I think that is good ways to relax.
  • cook 1 dinner a week– Last night I made the wraps, and I am making a Meatball Skillet tonight!
  • Don’t worry about what happened yesterday, focus on today– slowly but surely I am making my way towards this.

Running Recap

Sunday- 5 Miles with the Lovely Katie

Monday- Rest because I just got my tattoo on Sunday

Tuesday- 4 Mile run! I killed this run, seriously! I am not going to put my time up because real runners will think I am lame but I was amazing for me hehe.

Wednesday- Night run about 40 minutes.

Thursday- Weight lifting  class at the gym.

Friday- Rest day because I want to hehe.

Saturday- Crosstraining circuit workout with the beautiful Kim!

I am feeling really good about this week and my schedule. We are also watching an adorable puppy this weekend, and I am going to see the play Little Shop of Horrors. I am super excited! I will try to be good and post about all the fun shinnanigans I have this weekend.

Busy days and nights.

I wish I had a million pictures to post for you but I don’t. I am currently in a lull with taking pictures (possibly because I lost my camera and I have resorted to using the camera we found in Mexico in the ocean a few years ago…A story for another time) But I think most of it is because I barely have time to relax in the day especially upload photos to a computer and talk about the things I have done. I guess this blog is just going to have to be a little toned down until I can figure out a balance. I am sure you don’t mind too much, I mean your still reading right? Well I know if I were you I might be wondering what it is that I do that makes me so busy that it is hard to be a savage blogger like the rest that are out in blog land. Here is a look at yesterday.

6:30- Alarm goes off and I actually feel pretty well rested and decide to get up and take a shower.

6:45- I start getting breakfast ready, put the oats in the pot and chop up some peaches to go in the mix.

7:00- Eat Breakfast and start getting my lunch together.

7:25-7:45- Stare at my closet cursing to the cats that I have nothing to wear, Dig around for some clean socks. Decide that I need new shoes and a new wardrobe then finally find something that will work to wear.

7:55- Make sure my Ipod is synced up and grab my lunch so I can head out the door to get in the carpool line.

8-8:15- Wait for carpool, listen to Funny podcast while people in carpool line stare at me because I am laughing out loud. Then I get in a car and act like a normal person.

8:35-8:45- Arrive in SF- Step over bums and pigeons on my way to work, still listening to podcast and thinking about why I decided to give up Coffee for the 356th time.

8:50- Arrive at work ready to be a computer zombie for the next 8.5 hours.

9:00am-5:30PM- Work, drink tea, work some more, eat my healthy lunch that I packed, see funny cat video, work more.

5:30-5:40- Walk to Bus then get on bus and either a. Fall asleep b. freeze to death because the A/C is on for some ungodly reason.

6::15-6:30- Arrive home and get ready to go for a run.

6:30-7:15- Run like the wind listening to Lady Gaga and Britney mouthing the words and looking like a weirdo.

7:25- shower again

7:45- Start making Tempeh Wrap with veggies, soo yummy.

8:00- Eat dinner and watch Mad Men.

9:00- Clean up dinner and put away some laundry, finding other thing to clean throughout the way, then decide my attempt is futile and I will have to clean again this weekend.

10:00 Fall asleep wishing there were more hours in the day.

I guess now that I look at it I could have blogged during Mad Men, but I was knitting and trying to get away from the computer for a little bit. Well that was yesterday and tomorrow marks a new WI day and I just got a new scale yesterday. I am actually looking forward to Weight Watchers this week because I really have tried hard this week. I am also excited to have a scale at home that I can check in the mornings so I get more of an idea of what my “true weight” is. Well I hope that was exciting for you. I have to say it wasn’t that exciting reliving the day like that. I need to be more exciting…

Being real for real

Well I had a pretty big slap in the face last night at my Weight Watchers meetings. I guess I just learned again that half-assing the plan is not going to get me to see weight loss results. I really want to lose this weight so I am commuting to focusing on my weight loss and reminding myself daily that I am doing this for myself not just to get into a super hot wedding dress. I can complain about it being tough and hard but the fact is that I just want to have less junk in the trunk! At this point I just want to be back to my Pre-triathon training weight of 163, it doesn’t seem that hard but 20 pounds is 2o pounds no matter what. It is going to take dedication and perseverance and a lot less beer.  Source

Yes I know Boohoo, So I won’t be able to go out and party like I am 21 again, I guess it is just the truth that I really have to account for myself and really focus on that.

For anyone that might actually be reading this….

Would it be interesting/beneficial for me to do a daily eats on my page to help keep me accountable? Especially when going out on the weekend? What about only doing daily eats on the weekend (my trouble time) …

Next week I am going to come back smaller and weighing less damn it! PS I need to run my ass off because I only have 8 weeks until the Vegas Half Marathon( be jealous)

Octobre, just go with it.

I am not sure if that is how you actually spell it but for some reason I keep saying Octobre instead of October so I am just going to go with it. I already feel like this month has started off great. Aside from the mini splurges I did this weekend (lunch out with the fam followed with wine tasting and several pieces of cheese throughout the day/night and a few more beers) I think I did pretty darn good. It was the first weekend of Octobre so that right there says it. Actually I am not sure if it says anything but again just go with it.

Lets look at my goals for September shall we?

  • Read 1 new book- Booya Bitches! I read 3 new books because I finished the Hunger Games trilogy!
  • workout 3-5 days a week (Start half marathon training and cross train!)- I was really consistent with this, There was one week where I know I only worked out 2 days but considering the circumstances I consider that a win.
  • try 1 new recipe a week- Not so great on this one, I might have or might not have. Jason does most of the cooking honestly, an I help on occasion. Maybe I should start getting Jason to post on here 1 time a week about a meal he cooked hmm.
  • lose 5 pounds- Definetly not, but hey at least I weigh less than I did on the first. I lost 1.2 pounds this month. I am going to shoot for double that as to not be too crazy about losing as it seems to be going much slower than I was hoping for.
  • Blog more!- I consider this a win. I am working harder and harder at this and hope to have to pictures up regularly.
  • meal plan- I meal planned a few times during September but not every week. I want to be better at this, it can be challenging because I know that Jason doesn’t care too much for it and since he cooks more it can be tough.
  • work on me vs me- This is an ongoing battle but I think it is going better. There was a lot of stuff going on in September but I think I handled it well and didn’t beat myself up too much.
  • continue wedding planning- Check and Check! We are getting our save the dates this week and sending them out. We have also finalized out  guest list for now. Next step is to meet with caterers.

October Goals!

  • lose 3-4 pounds

Well there we have it folks. I have some good goals I think and I really thing I can attain all of them and come out with flying colors come November! Since I had my last Weigh in from Weight Watchers be the previous week right before the 1st, I am going to do that for this month as well. I am also going to buy a scale so I can check my weight in the morning and get more accurate results as opposed to the evening which is when my official Weight Watchers WI is. Random Weekend Fun

This past week has been a bit of a whirlwind, I wish I had pictures for you all but I have been dropping the ball on taking photos. I am going to work on that….seriously! Here is one just so you can be happy and smile for the day.

I know that it is a picture from a while ago but I really like this picture, maybe its lighting maybe its seeing 6 glasses of wine in front of me, either way it’s a keeper.

So here is a little recap of what I did this past week/weekend.

Worked out! – I made it the the gym 3 times and attempted to ran outside one day. Hooray for me! This is a big deal since I had my crash. I was not sure how my body would react to getting back into working out, so far so good! I ran on Saturday for about 45 minutes. It was a run/walk and my body was hurting after about 25 minutes. I am not sure if that was because of the new lifting routine this week or just not running for a while. I decided to take it easy and walk a fair amount the rest of the run. I made it past my first week of NROLFW and Day 4 starts tomorrow. I will come back tomorrow with a recap of what my weights were for last week and what I am shooting for this coming work.

Date night- Jason and I wanted to do a date night together since we have been so busy and I have been a crazy biotch lately. (I swear this man did not know what he was doing proposing to me 😉 We went to our favorite bar spot, Barceluna, for an early cocktail.( I mean at least it was after 5pm so it wasn’t too bad hehe) We happened to get there during happy hour. SaWEEEETT! We both ordered a few cocktails and it was buy one get one free for apps so we got the Lamb Taco’s and the Mussels. They were both amazing, I really should have taken pictures and for that I apologize! After we wolfed down the apps we decided to stay there for dinner instead of go somewhere else. Jason ordered the steak and I ordered the fish.

Everything was delish! I didn’t realize I could eat the skin or the eyes and apparently I should have partaken in both! Everyone on Facebook asked if I ate the eyes, next time….Maybe. After eating the massive fish I ate some of Jason’s tasty land animal meat and enjoyed some of this fries as well.

After 3 cocktails I was ready for more! thought it would be a good idea to get some coffee before the movie. We found out that the local theater lets you take in coffee! I wish I would have known that before gulping down my mocha….no I actually finished it well before we got there but now we know!

We went to see Cowboys and Aliens. But don’t be swayed by Harrison Ford and that other guy, the movie kind of blew. It wasn’t completely awful but it wasn’t great earlier. Spoiler alert! It is about Cowboy’s Vs Aliens, nuff said.

When Sunday rolled around I got up early-ish and made some pre-weight lifting fuel. Then we jetted to the store so Jason could make an awesome brunch for himself and we could stock up the fridge. After throwing him and the groceries out of the car I jammed to the gym for a nice lifting session. I came home and did a little shopping then we made some bbq and I drank beers in my bikini. (Note to self sun and beer can be dangerous) After a nap we watched not 1 but both of our netfilx movies- Rango and Suckerpunch. I liked Rango more than Suckerpunch, Suckerpunch really just felt like a comic book nerds dream come true. But it was decent.

Now that I am sure you all are wishing you were me I will leave you to go read many other blogs. Tonight is Sushi with the girls and I promise to be back with more pictures of this fun night!

Weight Watchers,Weight lifting and wedding venue, Oh My!

Well first I want to say thanks to everyone who reads my blog and had some sweet things to say about my recent accident/sad face party. I am doing better now and I am pretty much 97% better from the accident. I have a few bruises here and there, that only the future hubby can see…if ya know what I mean ;), but I can almost open my mouth wide enough to fit an entire banana in it again which has really been necessary! haha J/K I am eating normally with only sight discomfort and the only soreness I have right now is from my new weight lifting routine I did yesterday. Lets get to that shall we?

I started Week 1 workout 1A from New Rules of Lifting for Woman last night! I am excited to say that I am feeling fairly confident that I will enjoy these workouts and get the hang of it pretty quickly. It helps that I have some experience in the weight room from working with trainers in the past. Here is a list of my stats so I have something to refer too as well!

7 minute warm up on Tredmil

Stage 1A

Squats- 2 sets/15reps with 20LBS added to Bar(I need to find out how much the bar is I think it was at least 10 pounds)

Push-up-2 sets/15reps on knees(hoping I can be on my toes pretty soon!)

Seated Row- 2/15 on floor 1 set 40lbs 2 @50lbs- I need to look this over to make sure that I am doing it right, I was sitting on the floor!)

Step Up 2/15 with 24LBS(12lb barbell in each hand) 4 risers on each side of platform.( I might need to make this a little higher since it didn’t seem too hard)

Prone Jacknife- 2/15 I used a small red ball instead of the large one I wanted to use because it was all that was left. 😦

15 minute interval workout on treadmill

Minute 1-2:20-3.5 Speed

Minute 2:30-3:30- 6.9 Speed

Alternate between 2 minutes slow and 1 minute fast.

Doing this interval workout was really intense. I am not sure if it is because it was my first time back in the gym or if my legs were just tired from the lifting but either way it was great! I love doing short interval workouts!(right now that is) I am glad that I gave this a try tonight, I think since this is so different than what I have been doing with Triathlon training I will really start to see a difference in my body composition. I am hoping sooner than later!

Another thing that I am currently happy about is that I am getting close to the end of my first week on Weight Watchers. I have done weight watchers before and succeeded and now I am back to really have my final go at it and get to goal for my wedding and stay there for life. I had a bit of a splurge day on Saturday, I honestly can’t even tell you how many points I had 😦 Bad I know for my first week back on the program but instead of letting myself have a hangover Sunday and laze around on the couch all day we went and did laundry for a few hours then went to whole foods to spend Jason’s whole paycheck get groceries! Since then I have been really good about staying in my points and making smarter choices. I am really hoping to see the scale go down this week but even if it doesn’t I am going to press on and make next week better than this week no matter what.

What is going on tonight?

Well I am going to our wedding venue to discuss decor and taste some catering. My lovely Man of Honor is meeting Jason and I there and then it is sushi for dinner! I am saving up my points so I can have a nice dinner with my two favorite men.

Up next on the Agenda is a haircut tomorrow after work, I am hoping to wake up early for a run tomorrow, wish me luck!

Nervous, and a look back to the first time…

So many feelings are going on right now. I really can’t share all the excitement/nervousness/fear/love I am feeling, so instead I decided to do an interpretative dance… [Insert dance here] I wish I had enough time to come up with a dance and then do it for you and somehow video tape and and put it up but I do not. So I figured instead I would post up some pictures of what my first race looked like and then we can have some awesome comparisons. In a way this kind of feels like my first race, I don’t know what to expect and I am doing something for the first time. Granted I have done other triathlons but this is the longest distance I will be doing to date! I really don’t think I will ever do an Iron man…..(think is the key word here)

This was a rough run, as they always are. I have to say that running during a triathlon is always the hardest part, maybe  because you just did two other sports? ya think?

Then things got a little crazy at the after party…..Lets just say Tri peeps know how to party!


That is a little photo recap of my first ever Triathlon. Looking back at it I remember how amazing it was. I loved all these people and I now know that triathlon training was more than just a race for me it was building a family. Maybe that is why I don’t have the same feeling going into this race as I did the last two. I had my team with me, My friends I made throughout the tough training days. I guess I learned that Triathlon training is meant to be with a team, training my my own was by far way harder than with the team.

In any case are we ready to kick some half Iron Ass or what!

What I am thinking about right now…..



Some steak sounds amazing right now….and I have to make it up to Jason that I have turned into a physcho hose-beast lately.

Who would have that that Half-Iron man training would turn me evil?(I tried to take an evil picture but I was worried that my coworkers would think I am crazy, and my stupid Android would not work with me on this issue! )

I am dreaming of doing Yoga again. When I first started getting into being healthier Yoga was my only form of exercise. I never thought of it as exercise, it was mainly something I did for  back pain, now I am learning that it would also help my state of mind.

Running and yoga will be my new focus now, I do plan to have things be a little lot more relaxed after I finish my Half Ironman. I might even take a week off completely besides walking and stretching, which is why I want to try to get to a yoga class after my race to help start a clear mind.

Peanut butter and jelly is delicious but is not a good substitute for lunch if you don’t have lots of sides to go with it. Lunch Fail!

I just ate so many Edemame beans I might throw up…see previous to understand why I started eating Edemame beans in the first place.

For some reason I don’t feel that stressed about my race. I am fully ready for it to come and be end honestly. I am not freaking out about what I have to bring or worried about anything really. But, It is only Tuesday come talk to me on Thursday!

Tonight I have acupuncture which I am so thankful for. She has really helped me with so much and is going to continue to help me as I make the transition from Triathlete to Bride.Let’s just say that I am welcoming the change and ready to embrace a different time in my life.

I miss you

I have to say I miss my blog. I have been so busy between Half-Iron man training, wedding planning and a full time job; there just isn’t enough hours in the day.

What’s been going on with me Lately?

If you don’t know what my wedding colors are yet, then you either don’t talk to me ever or barely read my blog, or you just forgot and I forgive you. The hint is in the writing 😉

With that I have been scouring online to find a cute dress to wear to my Hawaiian themed engagement party. I don’t want to jinx anything yet but I might have found a contender today! If it is picked there will be pictures to come.

I have some amazing family members and friends who are helping pull together the engagement party of the year. I am really excited to see everyone together and celebrate this truly special moment in my life.

I don’t have pictures yet but we took our engagement photos last Thursday evening in Tilden Park. Ill give you a few clues of what you might see, A bright red barn, a beautiful green field and two people in love 🙂 More to come when the pictures come out!

Working out and losing weight

I have been struggling with the losing part. I am really trying to get my game face on and really tackle the last 10-15 pounds I want to lose for the wedding. I have over a year so it should happen eventually. I just don’t want to get too discouraged as I am trying to get it going. I also have been back in triathlon training and hoping that does some good things for the weight loss goals. We shall see, but as of now I am pretty much back to where I started in previous posts, which is fine because I am still down 25 pounds from 2 years ago.

Lets get this week off to an amazing start shall we? I am going to come write here at least 2 times! Now that is a commitment I can keep!
