I have a large suitcase for everything else. Lets hope that I have everything I need and can fit all my goodies I am bringing back. Tonight is the final night I have in California. I wake up at 5am to leave our house at 6 to be at the airport at 7. My flight leaves at 8:50 and I arrive in Hawaii at 11:26. I think I am ready to  rock this triathlon and rock Hawaii. I truly feel blessed to have so many amazing teammates and such a great, generous , and amazing friend, Ashley, to let us enjoy Hawaii longer and take over her apartment in Honolulu! I promise to post pics and updates as much as I can. Jason just bought a new camera so this blog is going to be bitchin….Just sayin ;P

Time for a Quickie

OK, Let me just  freak out for a minute. I have been thinking about blogging but honestly I have not had the time. It is the thought that counts right? I have most of my race gear put in a large suitcase, I have to get a tri-backpack from a friend and put all my “essential” race stuff in there so I can bring it as carry on to Hawaii. I still have to pack all my toiletries and cute clothes/swimwear for Hawaii. It really is all I can think about at work. Now I wish I would have taken tomorrow off as well! I will try  to update you guys at the Airport on Friday, if not I will see you in Hawaii!!

Turkey Bacon, a love hate relationship.

The last two days have been extremely mellow for me.  On most mornings during the weekends I am usually up by 6 and out the door somewhere in between 7 and 8.  Training with team in training has really made me look on weekends differently. They are time for me to get in my long runs and my double bricks ( Bike then Run followed by Bike then Run. But, this weekend is different. I am getting over a nasty cold that came on around Tuesday night and I am determined to be healthy as soon as possible. I have been lounging, laying, sitting and many more lethargic activities, it sucks. I thrive on being out running or biking or swimming. Getting my heart pumping and breaking a sweat. So in order to numb this pain I turn to bacon.

This is real bacon, I would not make you even look at turkey bacon if you didn't want to.

As I mentioned before I usually don’t have time to make a real breakfast. I can nuke some oatmeal and smash a banana in it in less than 5 minutes. These past two days I have been lucky enough to enjoy a warm hearty breakfast at home. I am talking Bacon(turkey bacon) eggs and pancakes. (you may now drool) I know, in fact, most of you would not consider turkey bacon bacon at all. I am still on the fence about it honestly. I like that it lower in fat, but it just doesn’t have the same crunch that regular bacon does. We are in operation, eat everything out of the fridge before Hawaii, so I have been in fact eating turkey bacon.  I have to say with some syrup on it and a banana pancake next to it, it isn’t half bad. But real pig bacon don’t worry, You are still my first love.

Adventures from the couch

I have to tell myself that this is exciting. Sitting here crocheting away as the sky is grey. Cats sleeping in their beds as the rain falls behind them through the window. Yes I am stuck inside most of the day because I am recovering from my cold still. I did venture out to pick up a few items for Hawaii next week. Check out Old Navy for some cute summer pieces. They are still getting stuff in for their summer line, but they are having a sale on cotton summer dresses that are perfect for a sweltering day in the sun. Check out some cute ones here if you don’t believe me.

Back to crocheting here is my progress!

Being sick part 2

I am not sure if I can call this a part 2 since I didn’t officially have a part 1, but lets just call it the beginning to a 5 part trilogy…. I am on cold medicine so don’t judge me! It is pouring down rain here in cloudy San Francisco and I have been sucking down tea all day long at work. I really can’t take any more days off work, so I am toughing it out here. The funny thing is, I look cuter at work than I have in a long while since I am not either A. running to the gym right after work, or B. coming back from working out first thing in the morning. It means I am getting more sleep(if you can call downing half a bottle of nyquil and passing out halfway on the bed sleep) and apparently more time. Even in a glass-eyed, medicated state I am able to wake up, put on my make-up, find a cute outfit and head out the door. It also helps that I made a bunch of soup the other night and I have been living off that during my sickness.

Yesterday I wrote about how it is good to be sick right now, Check that out here if you missed it.

Today I have to say I am not feeling as upbeat about it. I am already over it and I want to be better. When I was just thinking about food, aka drooling over pictures of cookies online…(why did my boss tell me about snookie’s cookies? that just sounds dirty by the way), I thought about another thing that is good about being sick. When your sick you usually lose weight. Granted I am not advocating the next fad diet of tape worms, but hey if I can lose a few pounds before Hawaii, fine by me 🙂

I will leave you all to have a wonderful evening. I have a feeling that soup and The Event will be in my near future, we well as curling up on the couch with my 3 favorite meows.

Happy that I am sick…well almost.

I say that I am happy that I got sick only because

1. If I am going to get sick I would rather it be this week so I still have time to recover before leaving for Hawaii next week.

2. We are in our first week of tape, which means the workouts are slowed down to get us ready for the race.

The weird thing is that I somewhat knew that I was going to get sick this week. Let me give you guys a clue as to how I knew.

Saturday I had an intense workout in the rain. I swam for 1.5 hours and then ran in the rain for 5 miles. It was a great workout and I felt good doing it, but I could tell by Sunday that I was dragging. My team had a run Sunday morning and it was a beautiful day. I woke up a little tired, but ate my oatmeal and jammed over to the meet-up spot at Sports Basement in Walnut Creek. During the first few miles I could tell I was tired, but coming back I knew I was really just feeling exhausted and worn out. I remember thinking to myself, “Hey, WTF man, you can run 5 miles easily why is this so F-ing hard?” I should have known my body was telling me something, I just didn’t listen.

When I got off work yesterday trying to amp myself up for a swim, I just felt off. I decided to take it easy and make soup instead. I found this amazing recipe on eatingwell.com and wanted to try it out. I made a few tweaks, added kale. squash, carrots and celery to the soup, but other than that followed it exactly. It came out amazing! I highly recommend this recipe to anyone, sick or not. I have some leftovers for day and can’t wait to dig in.

Do you listen when your sick and take a break?

The Countdown Continues

T-Minus 9 days and counting Baby! I am so juiced about this trip to Hawaii I am about to burst!

A little itinerary if you don’t mind.

We are leaving April 1st at 8am from SFO, we have a direct flight to KONA and we check in and the festivities begin. I have to pick up my bike at 12 or so with my  team. Then we are going for a swim in the ocean to see how it feels. The first two days I will be in Hawaii I will be mostly with my  team and Jason might have to be on his own in Paradise, I am sure he will find something to do ;). We are going to practice all three sports between Friday and Saturday to make sure we are ready for the race on sunday!

I am doing my second Olympic Distance Triathlon.

The Distances

1.5 km swim, 40 km ride, 10 km run

American conversion- .93/24.8/6.2 miles

I am extremely excited because this my first time ever going to Hawaii. We stay in Kona for 5 days and then fly over to Honolulu, Oahu for 5 more amazing days. My girlfriend Ashley, lives right downtown and has offered to let us stay with her. I can’t wait for all the fun I am going to have. I really need a vacation!

In preparation for this trip I am doing 10 days of completely no artificial sugar unless in electrolyte mixes, and no alcohol and eating as clean as possible. I want to be as healthy as possible for this race. It also doesn’t hurt to look your best in a bikini. I might be a little MIA for the next week or so since I am getting everything in order for this Vacation. I love you all and will be back as soon as I can. For now picture paradise. 🙂

This Post is Krazy

I have so many things that I want to talk about, I went to a “Prom” for adults this Saturday night, I will make sure to put pictures up when I get the time (which could be never with how dang busy I am!), I also managed to do a double brick workout the night after prom( I swear a hangover gets better after you bike for an hour and then eat banana’s with nutella and m&m’s, I also want to talk about some of the goals I had planned and a few more things so that is why I would call this This post is Krazy!

To start Prom was awesome.  I double dated with one of my teammates turned new BFF. Jason looked so cute all dressed up in his suit it was great. I also was lucky enough to have my fairy god-mother/teammate Kim hook me up with a beautiful dress shoes and earrings! Score for not having to pay  a dime to my outfit! I danced the night away and most likely had a few too many  drinks, considering I had the double brick the next day!

Sunday Double Brick- I woke up in a bit of a daze, with the time change and the lack of sleep/drinks the night before I was a little out of it. I quickly backed my bag and headed to starbucks for breakfast and coffee, it helped a lot! I arrived at the workout with time to spare and made sure to hydrate and fuel up! The first leg of the bike was 90 minutes, I felt decent until I hit the water stop and when I saw the spread my spirit was lifted! Banana’s cut into slices with nutella and M&M’s it was the best fuel for a bike ride! I am going to remember that one!! After that I was feeling great. I made it back to the transition spot for the run. I made it about 10 minutes or so and had to turn back to use the bathroom. I sprinted to the restroom then finished the rest of my run on the track next to it. The next bike run was 60 minutes bike 20 minute run. I was starting to get tired the second brick but I still pushed through. When I was finally done I was so ready to go home and take a nap. Which I did, and yes, it was awesome.

Present day- before I touch on a recap I want to say that I am truly a changed person because of Team In Training. No I am not being told to say this in any way and the only benefit I get from writing about this is that maybe I can get the word out to more people about the leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Yesterday a good friend that I met through team in training posted about losing a good friend who was an honoree for her team. Because of Team in Training these people are able to fight cancer and survive a little longer. Some of them are lucky enough to keep fighting but unfortunately so many still end up passing away. I know too many people in my life that either have cancer or have passed away from cancer. I will keep fighting to help find a cure, and LLS is an amazing organization to work with.

Ok as I dry my eyes I am going to do a little recap of what my march goals  and highlight my progress Yay!!

March Goals

  • Weigh under 170 on April 1st.- Still working on this one, I have a little while still and I just need to lose .9. If it doesn’t happen I will not be devestated because I have been doing great everywhere else.

  • Write on my blog 1 time a week and make it positive 🙂 – Keeping it mostly positive has worked out well, and I have been blogging and thinking about blogging more! Score for that one.

  • Focus on the moment– this one I have to remember constantly. I am glad that I am revisiting these goals today so I can assess what I need to work on.

What goals have you been working on this month?

Addicted?

I guess you could say that I am quickly becoming addicted to racing. It started a little while ago when I made some friends in TNT over the summer season that were really into racing. I have done 6 races total in the last 2 years and I am signed up for 2 races for this year. The first race is obvious, that is my Triathlon in Hawaii that I do in 3 weeks! The second race is The Rock N’ Roll Strip Half Marathon in Las Vegas! It is all the way in December but I wanted to commit early. I am also on the lottery for the New York Marathon in October, if I don’t get into that this year I am guaranteed next year. I am also looking into a Sprint Tri in San Francisco called the Golden Gate Tri, and the San Francisco Triathlon at Alcatraz in August. It is weird, I spend a lot of money to do these races but it doesn’t seem like it. I am in love with working out and doing these fun races, especially the destination races. Can it really be that bad to have a healthy addiction??
Are you addicted to Races? What other vices do you have?

Running like the wind!

Happy Thursday!! I am in an amazing mood again. Thank you starbucks for your latte’s that get me through the day! I slept great last night and was able to wake up nice and refreshed. I can’t believe in 21 days I will be in Hawaii! This is so exciting for me!! First time in Hawaii(love) and I get to do a triathlon(triple love ;P) and I am spending it with the love of my life! Love is just all around over here.

MMMmkkkk Lets recap last nights workout shall we?

Work it Girl!
10 minute warm-up- 1 mile run
8 minutes of stair running followed by 2 recovery laps
repeat
here is where it might get confusing…
2 800’s followed by a 400 recovery (a 400 is one lap aka .25 miles) repeat 3 times
1 1600 with 400 recovery
20 minutes of core including push-ups, crunches, leg drops… the list goes on.

I felt great but exhausted, my lovely boyfriend made me an omelet for dinner that really hit the spot.

  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 Aidells Sausage(sooo yummy!)
  • Feta Cheese or goat cheese, I was a little tired heh
  • 1 piece of whole wheat toast with butta

Guessing game with portions but you can get the idea.We are in desperate need of veggies today, it is hard to find time to go to the store. I train 6 days a week and I don’t drive to work or I could stop at the store on the way home. I take public transportation which is awesome but it takes some time.  Today is lunch at the salad bar which is yummy and healthy 🙂 Then a swim tonight and an early spin class. This weekend is going to be super busy with workouts and fun. Here are the plans so far.

Friday night- The BF’s Best friends bday party at a planetarium=aweesome!
Sat morning- 6.5 mile run
sat night- TNT Prom(I am soo excited since I didn’t get to go to my senior prom 🙂
Sun morning- triple bike run brick (bike/run repeat 3 times)

Well I hope everyone has a great Thursday!!!! I am currently looking for coverups and dresses for hawaii 🙂
