Things are looking up~Friday Funday

My top 5 for today 🙂

Today has been a very good day, yes kind sir a very good day indeed! Think of that sung to a showtoon, I am thinking Mary Poppins esque. Can you tell I am in a great mood!

I went to the Dr and they gave me something different for these flippin headaches. Hopefully my brain pain will go away. So far today has been good on the brain front. I am ready to feel 100%, That is fosho! No Diggity Doubt on that one. I even did an inclined fast walk workout this morning followed with some bosu weights. It was pretty pimp…Just sayin.. I feel like a rock star that just slammed…..a coke, the soda of course 😉

1. The sun was out almost all week, the only thing not fun about it is that it went back in hiding.

2. My Duathlon is only 2 weeks away, I am pretty juiced/nervous.

3. Workouts this weekend include a swim/ bike race simulation, that means fast beezy time! Then Sunday is a fun run around the lake, lets hope it isn’t raining so I don’t die…MMMkay.

4. Sports massage on Monday to top off the weekend workout, OOOoo love massages and my dr prescribed them… well maybe not but I am not prescribing them to my monthly routine!

5. Tonight is burger night! yup and I am making it with real beef and real cheese, watch out tummy this is gonna be bomb!

Let me just say that I am jonesing for some serious junk food! This is very unusual for me honestly. I usually don’t like burgers that much, or Fries even. Pizza I will say always holds a place in my heart. The question is how am I going to curb this craving…. Well lets just say my meal plan this week has Ground Beef with Cheddar Cheese on it hehe.

I had a rough week this week, I was battling headaches most of the week which means my workouts were either cut short or skipped. No Big Deal! ( Keep telling yourself Aly you know this is true) I am tacking this week head on! This what my workout schedule is like.

Not feeling it

Well I am not feeling so great today, which is leading me to believe maybe I am getting sick. It doesn’t seem to be just migraines anymore. I am feeling a little off today as I have the last few days and I am just exhausted. Hopefully a little food will make me feel better, but I am worried I am coming down with the flu or some other nasty little virus. Send some healthy vibes my way if you can.

Triathlon training makes me smile :)

Just thinking about meeting up with the team and having a good run tonight is making me smile. I am so happy that I found Team in Training. I have met so many amazing people and love every minute. Even though I am currently battling a migraine, if I think of triathlon training I can’t help but smile.

What works for you

I have been struggling trying to lose weight on my own. I started off thinking the weight would just melt off when I started triathlon training. This was not the case. I ended up gaining about 7-10 pounds back during last season. Yes, I will agree with the comments “You have built so much muscle”, and ” You don’t look like you weigh that much.” But, I really want to make this change for me. I tried doing it on my own with free websites. I did get lots of support that way but it just was not working for me. Maybe it is because I am not forcing myself. Maybe I need to look at it a different way. The truth is I know I lost weight following Weight Watchers. I know that paying for the membership makes me more accountable. I also know about 4 people(including my mom) who started or restarted the program recently. I am going to make a change and see a difference in my body for this summer. I already feel better signing up for it, and I am ready to hit the ground running. I know I can do this and I know that I will. This is what works for me.

Friday Funday!

So every Friday will now be Friday Funday, I am only going to talk about fun things and this will be a very random post, be aware 🙂

1. Tomorrow we are swimming in the San Francisco Bay for our first open water swim, I am saying this is fun, it will be fun and I will make it fun even if it is freezing my imaginary balls off.

2. I am on a total tea kick and who doesn’t think tea is fun? Personally I have been indulging in the Wild Sweet Orange from Tazo, Soo yummy.

3. Ordering clothes is always fun I am currently debating on what I should order from Nordies right now….. Hmmm what do you think Boots or scarves or hat??? so many choices I can’t put a picture up of all of them, Just check out the sale section and send some love my way.

4. The Sun is shining and even though it is only 55 Degrees, the sun makes me feel like spring is just around the corner.

5. I really want to go to a Fondue restaurant again, I think I will plan this valentines day at the melting pot in Marin…. Yumm and you know I gotta have me some chocolate!

There are my 5 fun things for friday Fun day! What do you think sounds fun right now?

Dreaming of a (warm)sunny day

I originally put this post as dreaming of a sunny day, yesterday it was sunny but it was still cold. So I had to revise to say that I truly can not wait for the sun to come back and to have some warm weather! But, there is something magical about seeing San Francisco in it’s true state; Foggy, overcast and dreary. The magic is not working with my brain to make me feel chipper and ready to take on the world. At least I have my fitness to help in that department.

Last night we had a Run workout with my Team in Training Winter team. If you are new to my blog, I am training for my second triathlon. This one is going to be in Hawaii! I am very excited to have my first time to Hawaii and complete my second Olympic distance triathlon. With that being said, I train six days a week, three of which are with my team. Back to last night- We had our second 2 mile timed workout to compare to our first that happened a few months ago. I was feeling pretty good during my 1o minute warmup and was ready to conquer the run. I am not a huge fan of distance running on a track but I was able to deal with it. I completed my first mile in 9 minutes and 32 seconds. My second mile was 18 Minutes and 46 seconds! This blew my previous time of 22 minutes and some change out of the water! I was very proud of myself and still am.

Focus on what you can change

I am struggling with losing weight, I know it has only been about 2 weeks since I got hardcore with calorie counting and being steady with my workouts; but it is a struggle. Granted I lost 1.2 pounds last week and my WI is tomorrow I am just not too hopeful to see a change since I peeked at the scale this morning. I promise to myself and all of you that I am going to take my measurements either tonight or tomorrow. I need to see some sort of progress to keep this going since I really only have about 15 pounds total to lose it could take some time. If I feel that I am still struggling on my own I will go back to weight watchers the first week of February. I am determined to be in really good shape and feel great about myself for Hawaii in April.

Fun with Food

My amazing boyfriend went to the store last night since I had training and loaded up our fridge with healthy delicious stuff. We are going to tackle healthy eating like a beast this weekend. Feel Beasty!!!! I plan to try a few new recipes and just experiment in the kitchen.

Work-it Girl

Tonight I am going to try to shock my body a little bit and do a spin class instead of my scheduled swim workout. If I can make it to the gym in time I will be set. If not I will bring my swim gear and get my swim in. Next week I plan to truly shake it up with completely different days in an attempt to really challenge my body and myself.  We have our first open water swim at aquatic park in San Francisco tomorrow, it won’t be anything like how it was this day…

Because it is going to be about 10 degrees colder outside and about 51 degrees in the water. I am excited and nervous to swim when it will be so cold, but I am going to suck it up and put on my big girl wetsuit and bust it!

Hungry like a wolf…

Cheesy title I know, But I thought it was better than screaming to the world; ” I am so Hungry!!! Someone feed me before I start eating the paper on my desk!” Not that I would really go as far as to eat paper, but I did have a teacher tell me that eating chalk was healthy, she then proceeded to eat chalk the first day of our  class, all that calcium ya-know. It doesn’t help that I have been reading food blogs and meal planning most of my morning. I have read about lamb burgers from Rachael Here, and so many others…that one is just sticking to me. I think I will have to try that either this weekend or next week sometime. Yumm!

Here is my current food plan…. Any input would be well appreciated.

Dealing with it Daily

I honestly want to say that it is really hard for me to be so consistent with my food logging and workouts on some days. When I go off the wagon for a day or two, or even a meal, I can feel like a complete failure. I know this seems slightly  Crazy/obsessive/(insert favorite word here), but I have found that I am still dealing with this self-esteem stuff daily. The hardest part is letting go and moving on. I am really good about beating myself up. Even when I am trying my hardest, and truly making good accomplishments, there is always that little voice inside me who is telling me what I am doing wrong. Slowly, I am learning to tell the voice to Shut the F*ck up and get over it. I am amazing and I am a triathlete and really am changing my body and life for the better. I just want to address that some days it is hard to say that. Some days it just does not register. Today I am going to put everything behind me as far as food guilt goes. It is a new day and there is always a new meal. I am eating healthy and there are going to be days, week and months where that is not the case. I can only control so much, so I will learn to control my feeling first and foremost, and try to develop a healthy relationship with food. ::End Rant::
